The pre-development of carbon emission reduction solutions for the African energy market
Based on its successful experiences in the power sector in the Republic of Nigeria between 2002 and 2007, one of the current PDG Managers has been focussing PDG on the reduction of carbon emissions in black (Sub-Saharan) Africa, in particular in West-Africa and the countries alongside the Gulf of Benin.
Benefitting from its experience in biomass CHP projects in Amel and in Ham-Tessenderlo (both in Belgium), PDG has been promoting the implementation of biomass CHP projects in Nigeria, Ghana and Ivory Coast to benefit from the largely available “agricultural waste” generated by the rice industry (the rice husks), the cocoa industry (the cocoa pod husks) and the palm oil industry and for which biomass grate boiler solutions were proposed with the support of PDG’s technical partners like Vyncke (Belgium) and Wärtsilä (Finland).
Considering the specific technical support from Wärtsilä (Finland), PDG has been promoting the implementation of carbon emission reduction solutions through ad hoc modular gas engine solutions using piped natural gas and even crude oil (to reduce the gas flaring).
Considering the specific technical support from Clayton (Belgium), PDG has been promoting the implementation of carbon emission reduction solutions in Southern Nigeria through ad hoc modular steam generators using CNG (compressed natural gas) becoming available in geographical areas without piped natural gas.
